Online Therapy That Fits Your Life

Finding time for therapy can be difficult when you’re balancing work, family, relationships, and other responsibilities. Teletherapy offers a convenient way to access mental health support through secure video sessions without traveling to an office.

At Modern Me Psychology, we provide teletherapy when appropriate to help clients work through emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and make progress toward their personal goals. Sessions offer an opportunity to connect with a clinician from a private, comfortable location while receiving individualized care.

What Is Teletherapy?

Teletherapy, also called online therapy or virtual therapy, is psychotherapy provided remotely through video technology. Sessions take place much like in-person therapy, allowing you and your clinician to discuss concerns, explore patterns, and work toward meaningful change.

The therapeutic approaches used during teletherapy depend on your needs, treatment goals, and your clinician’s professional judgment. Online sessions may be appropriate for many of the same concerns addressed through in-person therapy.

How Can Teletherapy Help?

Teletherapy provides access to professional mental health support while reducing the need to travel to appointments.

Depending on your needs, teletherapy may help you:

    • Manage anxiety, stress, or symptoms of depression
    • Navigate life transitions and relationship concerns
    • Develop healthier coping strategies
    • Better understand emotional and behavioral patterns
    • Work toward personal growth and improved well-being
    • Maintain consistency in therapy when transportation or scheduling presents challenges

Your clinician will work with you to determine whether teletherapy is appropriate for your concerns and treatment goals.

Who May Benefit From Teletherapy?

Online therapy may be a helpful option for people who:

    • Have demanding work or family schedules
    • Prefer to attend sessions from home or another private location
    • Have difficulty traveling to an office
    • Live farther from available mental health services
    • Want to maintain continuity of care when their circumstances change

Teletherapy is not the right fit for every person or situation. Your clinician can discuss whether virtual sessions are appropriate based on your needs, circumstances, and clinical considerations.

Sucessfully Mission Complete

What Do You Need for an Online Therapy Session?

Getting started with teletherapy is straightforward. You will generally need:

    • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone
    • A reliable internet connection
    • A quiet, private space where you can speak openly
    • Access to the secure platform used for your appointments

Choosing a private location helps you participate comfortably and protect the confidentiality of your conversations. Your clinician can explain how to access your sessions and what to expect before your first appointment.

Is Teletherapy Confidential?

Your privacy matters whether you attend therapy in person or online. Teletherapy sessions are subject to the same applicable professional confidentiality requirements as in-person sessions, and Modern Me Psychology uses a secure telehealth platform for virtual appointments.

Confidentiality can also depend on your surroundings and the technology you use. Attending from a private room and using headphones when appropriate can help reduce the chance of others overhearing your conversation. As with all healthcare, confidentiality is subject to applicable legal and professional exceptions.

Teletherapy at Modern Me Psychology

All clinicians at Modern Me Psychology offer teletherapy, in addition to in-person appointments at our Roselle, Illinois office. Telehealth allows you to connect with your clinician remotely when virtual care is appropriate for your needs.

Telehealth availability depends on your physical location at the time of the appointment and applicable licensure requirements. Our practice uses a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform to support the privacy and security of virtual sessions.
